Abstract

The recent introduction of the accreditation scheme for undergraduate computer science programs has prompted increasing discussion of the curriculum within the academic computing community. Various curriculum models have been proposed. This paper describes one of the national, standardized computer science curriculum syllabi used in further education colleges in Britain at “A-level”. This 2-year program is equivalent to 16 semester hours in an American college and covers a computer science core similar to that proposed in the ACM “curriculum '78”. It provides an interesting standardized model which is actually implemented in schools across Britain.*
