Abstract

The emergence of Ada as a major programming language, and the resulting need for training large numbers of programmers in Ada, has led to the development of a variety of educational products and techniques. These include live courses and seminars, textbooks, videotaped instruction, and Computer-Based Training ("CBT"). In this paper we describe the major technical decisions and Ada educational approach that shaped the design of a particular CBT product developed by Alsys -- LESSONS ON ADA. We present the reasons behind the decisions, give an example from one of the lessons that illustrates the educational approach, and summarize future directions for the product.
