Abstract

A novel strategy for analog state transmission providing a large number of analog channels is presented. The total bandwidth of a digital asynchronous bus is dynamically divided by a large number of separate channels using relatively simple modulation and arbitration circuitry. The concept introduces several interesting aspects like random quantization noise, good scaling capabilities and low area consumption. The feasibility of the method has been proven by measurements on a working chip implementation.
