Abstract

The Satellite Switched Code Division Multiple Access (SS–CDMA) is a system proposed for geostationary satellite fixed service communications and provides both multiple access and switching to a multibeam satellite. Multiple access is achieved by space, frequency and code division while the switching function is based on code division methods. In this article, we present an overview of the system architecture, focus on the demand assignment control mechanism and describe the call control operation. Copyright © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
