Abstract

The Center for Integrated Turbulence Simulations was established in 1997 as one of the five ASCI University Alliances under the ASCI Academic Strategic Alliances Program. Using massively parallel computing, the CITS is advancing the physics-based numerical simulation of aircraft engine flow and combustion, with the goal of enabling a new engine design paradigm. It is also helping to develop the advanced computer platforms necessary to perform these simulations. This article outlines the CITS' challenges, program, and progress.
