An initiative for the design of an automatic safety-alarm system isproposed. The alarm system will be designed for elderly people, whoare living independently and need some assistive care. It has todetect an emergency at home, and in that case, it has to send analarm signal to an alarm centre. The detection is done with remotesensors. The emergencies are detected by monitoring and analysingthe "Activities of Daily Living" (ADL) of the elderly person athome. In this article, the product demands are worked out and adescription is given how the automatic safety-alarm system can bebuilt up, and which technologies and components could be used.
