Fault diagnosis is an increasing important research topic and a lot of approaches have been investigating for the intelligent on-line diagnostic task. This work demonstrates the implementation of real-time expert systems technology for diagnostic purposes in hydraulic systems. A knowledge-based system is developed that in combination with sensor measurements is able to diagnose real-time faults. The system was developed in collaboration with a company which specialises in hydraulic systems and is used for industrial automated processes.
