Abstract

This paper describes motivation, basic structure, and usage of the Bioperl project. As an open source project, all Bioperl modules are freely available for use and contribution from the bioinformatics community. The project's goal is to produce high quality software for managing and manipulating biological information. The bioperl web site (http://bio.perl.org) provides news and information as well as access to source code and details about joining the project [3].
