Abstract

As object oriented technologies continue to permeate industrial software development methodologies, it is imperative that the techniques used in these methodologies are re-evaluated. Classic top down structured analysis and design techniques are competing against object oriented techniques within these methodologies. This paper compares and contrasts both of these paradigms drawing conclusions about their strengths and weaknesses and suggesting that the two paradigms within systems analysis may actually provide similar information.
