Abstract

A new monolithic voltage-controlled oscillator exploiting a previously reported monolithic variable capacitance cell is presented. With a 2.3 volt swing in control voltage, the oscillator generates a sinusoidal output signal at frequencies ranging from 55 MHz to 135 MHz. The total harmonic distortion is less than 1%, while frequency slew rate is greater than 16 MHz/ns.
