Abstract

Ada was created with the intention that future computer software be designed and written in a maintainable form. The computer systems written in the past have not been easily maintainable due to the lack of adherence to modern software principles, hence the need for Ada. Many in the industry are not aware of the differences in the approach that is needed with Ada and consider a translation a relatively trivial endeavor. This paper intends to outline some of the issues that need to be considered when converting a non-Ada computer language into Ada.
