This paper briefly describes how the issues of fault tolerance are treated in Guide, an Object-Oriented Distributed Operating System under development at Grenoble on a local network of work-stations. Section 1 is an overview of the project. Section 2 describes the the computational model. Section 3 describes mechanisms provided by the computational model to cope with node failures. Section 4 gives the status and experience.
