We consider the impact of strict processing limitations on thedesign of an ontology for information extraction from newswiretexts. We conclude that requiring online, real-time processingleads to a particular set of answers to fundamental issues ofrelation size and the choice of primary categories. We show how tosatisfy these requirements by using relational categories directlyduring analysis and by using a reified lattice of their partialsaturations that is annotated with the linguistic constructs usedto realize them.
