Abstract

From the Publisher:Explores the role of cognition in human-computer interaction. Reviews current knowledge and theories about how people use computer systems for cognitive tasks--learning, problem-solving, storing and organizing information--and discusses applications to reading/text processing and database organization. Investigates a broad range of questions concerning the effects computers have on the way we think and act such as: How can computer use be made less stressful for ordinary user? Also considers implications of the physical aspects of video display terminals--flicker, color, quality of auditory output. Explores users' prior knowledge and learning styles in relation to how they use computers.
