Abstract

From the Publisher:The field of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) has witnessed an exponential growth over the past 10 years and spawned a new discipline in engineering in the form of ANNs System Engineering. This book presents an integrated design approach to ANNs for pattern recognition applications. Three topics of the system design methodology, including several model definitions, architectural descriptions, and hardware implementations, are investigated and their co-ordinations are discussed in detail after an overview of the field of ANNs. Engineering applications of ANNs to fuzzy clustering, speech recognition, classification, and pattern recognition are covered. Aimed at researchers and graduate engineers working in the area of VLSI circuit and system design, as well as being a reference for senior undergraduate level courses on parallel neural computing and VLSI system applications, Parallel VLSI Neural System Design will prove useful in contributing to the understanding of this new and exciting discipline of ANNs System Engineering.
