Abstract

From the Publisher:Apache Server Commentary is divided into two parts: code and commentary. The code is listed and numbered sequentially and corresponds to the commentary in the second part of the book. In addition, the commentary is cross-referenced back to the code in the first part of the book. Covers the information programmers need the most — working with the Perl modules. Apache comes with a standard set of 11 modules. Apache Server Commentary covers those 11 modules plus provides an additional 10 modules and corresponding commentary. Covers the nucleus of the Apache code, including programming commands in API. Adopts and extends the method used by the famous Lion's Commentary on Unix, (isbn1-57398-013-7) which still is a much sought after title even 20 years after publication. Uses a horizontal format (11" x 8 3/8" trim size) which allows for exhaustive cross-referencing, space for easy-to-read columns of code, and the book to stay flat while open. Over 500,000 lines of code are excerpted and explained in detail. Includes extensive cross-referencing and architectural flow charts to enhance understanding of the structure of the code. Apache Server Commentary is currently the only commentary-style book available on Apache modules. Covers Apache for both Linux and Windows. Includes the Apache code. Includes software that allows the code to be easily searched for specific features.
