Abstract

The problem cf distributing an application between two processorshas been investigated by studying an interactive graphicsapplication that is divided between a time-shared host computer anda dedicated satellite system. The division of labor in theapplication is determined by a network flow assignment algorithm. The effect of variation in availability of the host computer on thedistribution of the application is also studied. In particular, host availability is an important factor in determining the taskdistribution. As host availability decreased, procedures miqratefrom the host to the satellite.
