Abstract

Drug discovery is an extended process that can take as many as 15years from the first compound synthesis in the laboratory until thetherapeutic agent, or drug, is brought to market. Reducing theresearch timeline in the discovery stage is a key priority forpharmaceutical companies worldwide, and through the application andcollaboration of current, advanced technologies, the industry ispoised to achieve that goal. This article highlights computationalchemistry, a technology that can play an important role inexpediting the drug design phase.
