Abstract

The Institute of Technology and Work at the University of Kaiserslautern/Germany is associated with the Chair of Industrial Management and Human Factors, headed by Prof. Dr. Klaus J. Zink. Despite the institutional frame as an University's Institute was just set in 1995 the research group took its first steps more than 10 years ago. Under the vision "to make a relevant contribution to link humanity and economy using integral approaches" it was strived to improve the working conditions of people with disabilities. Whereas the emphasis within the first years of work was laid on sheltered workshops for people with disabilities, meanwhile the focus has expanded and now includes very different forms of occupation that support or enable vocational integration.Today the Institute is divided into the two divisions ,,Health Care & Social Institutions"and ,,Manufacturing & Service Industry". This presentation will only focus on the first division.
