Abstract

This paper is concerned with design issues in telecommunication services. We propose a modelling and simulation approach for location operations in UMTS networks. These operations involve entities belonging to both core network and access network. The proposed model is based on formal techniques and represents functional behaviour of network elements. The model is intended for simulation and analysis in order to detect possible inconsistencies and to design test patterns for implementations of 3G-networks. The results show that the design of the model is good and tests patterns are automatically produced.
