Abstract

Single-valued tubular surfaces are built from a 3D directrix curve. Given a point on the directrix curve and an angular direction, a point on the surface is obtained by a function that corresponds to the distance between these two points along the given direction. This work presents a new algorithm for intersecting and trimming single-valued tubular surfaces based on interval arithmetic. Applications of this algorithm on boolean operations and on petroleum reservoir modeling are here discussed as well.
