From the Publisher:The System V Interface Definition (SVID) specifies an operating system environment that allows users to create applications software that is independent of any particular computer hardware. It specifies the source code interfaces of each operating system component, as well as the run-time behavior seen by an application program or an end-user. The SVID Third Edition (SVID 3) Volumes 1 through 4 are organized into a Base System Definition and a series of Extension Definitions.
