Abstract

APLECON is a set of APL workspaces which implement regression techniques commonly encountered in econometrics. Each estimation technique is expressed in a concise and unambiguous manner by using a standard format. To facilitate further analysis, data, key parameters, and estimates are either saved as global variables or can be retrieved by explicit-result functions. APLECON is viewed as an alternative to existing econometric programs which often take on the character of a "black box". Natural extensions of this work include applications in the area of computer-assisted instruction and development of a comprehensive package for econometric modeling.
