Abstract

We present an a priori error analysis for the residual free bubble (RFB) method applied to diffusion-convection equations with a dominating and antisymmetric convection operator. Special attention is paid to the case of piecewise bilinears in ${\mathbb R}^2$ and the theoretical comparison with the streamline diffusion finite element (SDFE) (equivalently, streamline upwind Petrov--Galerkin (SUPG) method).
