Abstract

Agent technology is emerging as an important software engineering paradigm for the 21st century. This paper describes some pioneering work carried out at BT Laboratories on how agents can be applied to the domain of electronic commerce and in particular to the area of advanced trading. The principal benefits and issues are outlined. The paper concludes with a look at future plans to develop additional services.
