Abstract

This paper provides an overview of satellite technologies that can be used to deliver IP-based services. A snapshot of the current and future satellite capability is given, followed by an appraisal of architectures and worked examples of satellite links used for IP access. The last section explores the key issue of integration from the viewpoints of user traffic and network management.
