This paper describes an experiment in studying coordination inintelligent agent societies in terms of state-variable models. An overview of the modeling framework is first provided. The architecturalfoundation for the modeling approach is then described. Thisdescription is followed by a sample application of the methodology inanalyzing a coordination scenario. A simulation of the system withinthe realm of the parameters of the framework is used to validate theapproach. Variations of optimal coordination caused by differingconditions are described. The intention of this paper is todemonstrate principles for constructing models of intelligent agentsocieties in terms of state-variable descriptions with a view toanalyzing optimal coordination.
