Structured grids can be refined locally by adding line segments. These are notionally made into complete grid lines by filling the remainder of the line with blanks. A discretization scheme is adapted to this type of grid by adding interpolation points to complete differencing stencils. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the artificial compressibility approach. Examples show the efficacy of the method.
