This paper presents a prototype for a distributed multimedia system and discusses its value to the design of a flexible working environment. Graphical models for specifiying a flexible working environment are based on Petri nets, finite state machines, and information exchanged between them. A prototyping tool is introduced that interprets executable specifications in the models.Contact: Kazuo Sugihara, Dept. of Information & Computer Sciences, University of Hawaii at Manoa, 2565 The Mall, Honolulu, HI 96822, (808) 956-6049, e-mail sugihara@nile.ics.hawaii.edu.
