Researchers have increasingly been interested in applying object technology to geographic information systems and other spatial database systems development for its modeling power and functionality. To ensure high performance of such systems, we've studied clustering and buffering strategies for storing polygon objects. Our experiments using real data help evaluate the strategies' performance.
