A method is presented to prevent anomalies from affecting the design of a relational database. The approach, called the logical design tool (LDT), can also be used as an educational tool for the relational database. It allows certain problems that arise when the data is manipulated to be detected during design. An overview of LDT is followed by a discussion of its functions and its application.
