This paper describes in a nonsophisticated way the experiences with the outsourcing of maintenance activities for major legacy systems to a remote off-shore software house in the Philippines. The two cases presented illustrate much of the spectrum of possibilities enabled by this type of conversion activity. Concrete data are presented on both projects.
