Abstract

Software process improvement efforts will fail if we try to make development processes completely uniform across an organization. Uniform basic practices are important, but projects and subprojects will have needs that require specialized processes. By focusing on localized software practice improvement, organizations can tailor processes to meet specific needs, resulting in a more diverse set of processes to manage. This article describes software practice improvement and diversity management on one project.
