Abstract

The authors discuss a commercial knowledge reuse-oriented shell called KwEshell and demonstrate that combining knowledge reuse and case-based reasoning facilitates solving real, large-scale problems.The Yokohama Rubber Company and Fujitsu recently developed a case-based reasoning system in manufacturing-process design using KnowledgeWare, a reusable software library. KnowledgeWare is a component of the expert-system development tool KwEshell, providing software libraries for intelligent system development. Developers use KnowledgeWare when reusing development processes and application architectures. In this article, we introduce the reuse methods that we employed to develop our mixing-process design application.
