Abstract

Adaptive networks, a nonlinear modeling technique, hold great promise for control of complex systems. The authors apply a specific type of adaptive network--neural networks--to regulate blood pressure using a vasodilator drug. Their simulations demonstrate the superiority of nonlinear neural networks over linear modeling techniques for estimating the drug's effect and regulating blood pressure at a prescribed level.
