Abstract

Agents are software components that communicate with their peers by exchanging messages in a communication language. They are characterized by their ability to communicate and cooperate with each other. This key characteristic can be exploited to generate flexible VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) layouts. The authors demonstrate this through Agents, their scalable distributed system that generates flexible, full-custom CMOS, Bicmos, and mixed digital or analog VLSI layout cells.
