Abstract

A new constraint on geometric active contour has been proposed, that is capable of propagating adaptively (bi-directional) and extracting the shape of the object more accurately. The constraint used is an image based steering function derived from histogram features in a non-overlapped distribution function, as against the conventional method that uses gradient-based edge stopping function.
