We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a finite set contained in N3 to be additive in terms of plane partitions. It follows that this condition is sufficient for a plane partition to be minimal. As an application, we describe all additive sets contained in the box B(2, q,r) and show that they coincide with the sets of uniqueness.
