This paper presents a hybrid hierarchical knowledge-based system that is currently under development. This system is used for basic planning purposes at present. The important component of the system is a set of plan operator structures. Indexing and packaging hierarchies together play a key role in the construction of a structure. An abstraction hierarchy is used to organize the domain knowledge of the system. The system utilizes some heuristic knowledge of the domain to avoid brittleness. The system has been implemented in the domain of cooking vegetables in Indian style. A restricted natural language interface is incorporated for the convenient specification of user inputs.
