Abstract

As time progresses, more and more oil fields and reservoirs are reaching maturity; consequently, secondary and tertiary methods of oil recovery have become increasingly important in the petroleum industry. This significance has added to the industry's interest in using simulation as a tool for reservoir evaluation and management to minimize costs and increase efficiency. This paper presents results of several experiments using soft computing algorithms and techniques to perform history matching, a well-known important simulation task usually performed to calibrate reservoir simulators.
