In this paper, a locking-based concurrency control scheme is presented in multimedia databases. The proposed scheme deals with composite objects. The proposed scheme is developed using access information on composite objects so that it incurs less locking overhead than existing works under any circumstances. In this work, the correctness of the proposed scheme is proven. Also, it is shown theoretically that the proposed scheme performs better than existing schemes.
