Abstract

The parallel relativistic fully 3D electromagnetic particle-in-cell code par-T is presented. It is intended to model plasma wave phenomena in extended plasmas with low density inhomogeneities. The code uses a leapfrog scheme to push particles and a finite-difference time-domain method to update the electromagnetic field. The parallelization is based on a domain decomposition, ensuring both low communication cost and good load balancing. The implementation is based on Fortran 90/MPI and is therefore easily portable. Performance results on a Cray- T3E, a SUN HPC and a Beowulf-Cluster are presented.
