Abstract

This paper addresses some of the characteristics of learning in knowledge-based work environments. The role that learning mechanisms play in the firm's ability to create, transfer and enhance knowledge is discussed as well as sustaining learning and competitiveness. The work involves a field study of a software development firm [SDF] that utilizes agent-based technologies and other "cooperative decision making" tools, a platform architecture, and "extreme programming".
