Abstract

Structural approaches to anaphora try to solve it at the level of the formal language used for representing the meaning of sentences. But we believe that it must be approached by referring to the extension of the sentences. In this paper, we show that Johnson-Laird's Mental Models provide an adequate tool for coping with extensional representations and anaphora in a cognitively plausible way.
