We propose in this paper an event model supporting durationbased, constrained and dynamic event types. We believe that many real applications using active DBMS strongly need the possibility of defining and handling higher level events. Our model aims to provide such a kind of events, with a more natural programming interface, making easier the mapping of real events into events supported by the DBMS. The proposed model is intended to be used in a DBMS with temporal and active capabilities. Dynamic event types are particularly interesting in such a system.
