Abstract

The dynamic nature of business applications over the Internet requires that distributed business services be dynamically composed. Dynamic matching and binding of business services, through which activities specified in a process definition can be dynamically bound to an appropriate service at runtime, become a key issue. This paper presents a mediation mechanism that supports dynamic resource matching and binding. Having modified and extended the traditional workflow philosophy, we propose a flexible composition model that coordinates business services according to user requirements in a flexible way. Besides functional aspects, we add QoS templates for business services in order to make service selection more rational. We have implemented a prototype system based on the proposed concepts of dynamic service matching and binding to show its applicability in achieving flexible business service integration.
