Abstract

Future wireless access system will have features and requirements that are quite distinct form current systems, mostly designed for telephony. Such features include higher bandwidth, mixed, packet oriented and strongly asymmetric traffic patterns as well inhomogeneous network architectures. The question whether we are able to provide meaningful Quality-of Service guarantees in the same way as it is done in wire-line networks at an affordable price remains a open question. In this paper we give an overview over some of the key problems and some the possible solutions for future wireless multimedia systems
