An explosive growth in the number and diversity of resources in meta-computing environment has caused the high degree of difficulty of management of large-scale applications due to factors such as platform oriented management architectures, lack of coordination and compatibility among heterogeneous network management systems, and the dynamic characteristics of networks and application requirements. Even though previous researches in management solved many problems related to resource management including network management, they are not enough to provide integrated management services for an application point of view. To achieve the services, the matter of heterogeneity and dynamic adaptability in applications and resources should be addressed. This paper presents APAM (Adaptive and Proactive Application Management System), an integrated management model that provides a slim and adaptive management services based on the characteristics of an application and its adaptive fault management implementation.
