By reusing and extending the classical multi-agent production planning infrastructure, the extra-enterprise technology helps to organize external business relations of an enterprise and optimize their supply chains. It is obvious that small and medium enterprises that operate in project-driven manufacturing need to share their available resources in the most optimal way. Apart from technological infrastructure that is needed to achieve interoperability across the extended enterprise, this paper emphasis the role of shared ontologies and semantic aspects of the inter-agent communication.
