In this paper, we present a Multiscale Turning Angle representation and a pseudo-distance developed to compare object shapes of 2-D images. Both representation and pseudo-distance are devised to obtain results very similar to those of a human operator; in particular, the problem of noisy contours is dealt with. A prototype application has been developed to test the algorithms, and experimental results are presented.
